Work-Study Overview

The academic portion of the course is 24 weeks full-time, and runs from 5:00pm to 9:00pm, Monday to Friday. The remaining 24 weeks of the course is a work placement.

In this program, students will learn to approach digital marketing decisions with a creative, data driven, and flexible mindset to yield tangible gains for a wide variety of organizations and clients. They’ll work in a team-based environment, set up collaborative workflows and communicate with their clients, designers and potential employers. Throughout the program students will have the opportunity to network and build connections with hiring partners and professionals. They’ll also be given an introduction to their field and the skills necessary to work on technical teams in an agency, in-house, start-up, corporate or freelance environment. By the end of the course they’ll have developed a robust portfolio to jump-start their careers.

What type of certifications do students receive?

Throughout the program, you will be getting certifications in Google Analytics, Google Adwords and Google Display Network.

What kind of projects do we get to work on?

You will be working on a personal project building your website and marketing techniques and three community partner projects (ranging from inbound marketing, e-commerce and mobile app launch).

What kind of job can I get after the program?

Past graduates from the program have gone on to earn roles as Community Managers, Social Media Consultants, Digital Marketing Strategists, and SEM Marketing Coordinators.

Are the skills interchangeable?

Yes, the skills are interchangeable. If you decide to change careers in the future or pursue a different route in marketing the skills learned will help you transition more smoothly and better understand concepts and analytics no matter what the field might be.

Please note that places on our programs are limited, and are offered in the order that applications are received. The application deadline for the Fall 2017 cohort is June 30. Regular price is $12,500, Early Bird discount available for registrations sent until June 30th

Admission Process

We operate on a rolling admissions system, admitting students who meet our criteria as they apply up until the application deadline.

1. Completion of online application form.

2. An in-person or virtual (Skype) interview with one of our admissions team member and an instructor from the program.

3. A program specific assignment or test assigned by the instructor.

4. All prospective students are required to demonstrate a minimum level of English before they’re admitted to RED Academy. If you are an International Student or if English is not your first language, we may be required to pass one of the following exams:

  • Duolingo English Test 60 or higher
  • TOEFL iBT score of 90 or higher (TOEFL Paper score – 575 or higher)
  • IELTS Academic score 6.5 or higher
  • Cambridge Exam equivalency (CAE)

Applying For A Visa

International students (those who do not hold Canadian Citizenship or Permanent Residency in Canada) who intend to take one of our programs, will be required to apply for a Study & Work Permit within Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). You may apply using IRCC online application tool or by paper.

Depending on your country of citizenship, you may need a Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) to enter Canada, in addition to your Permits.

These are some of the required documents to apply:

  • Passport with at least 15 months left before expiry
  • Photo (IRCC has specific requirements of the Visa application photograph)
  • Proof of financial support
  • RED Academy’s Letter of Acceptance (LOA)
  • RED Academy’s DLI number (Pending approval)

 

We encourage our future students to seek help when applying for the Study & Work Permits, however, please, refer to this IRCC link for further information on how to apply for your permit.

If you are transferring to RED Academy from a Canadian educational institution, you must notify IRCC when you change institution in your MyCIC account.
It’s your responsibility to know and understand the International Student Immigration Regulations. For more information, visit the IRCC website.

Payment Process

The Professional Work-Study Programs cost $9,500 for 480 hours of instruction plus 480 hours of work experience. A deposit of $1650 ($250 non-refundable) is required upon acceptance into the program to reserve one’s place. 50% of the balance is due 30 days before the course starts and full payment is due before the program begins.
