What Tech Type Are You?
Navigating the diversity of tech careers is no easy feat. With an ever-evolving industry, the jobs of today won’t necessarily be the jobs of tomorrow. And while this may sound defeating, it’s actually quite the opposite. This is an exciting time to jump in, as in many ways you can create new opportunities, design your future, and find your niche.
Fifteen years ago you wouldn’t find job postings for Social Media Managers or Digital Marketing Experts. Now those are some of the most in-demand careers out there, with companies across the globe looking for talent. So how exactly do you decide which route to take, and how to get there? Glad you asked.
Recently we’ve launched a quiz called “What’s Your Tech Type?” (ahem, you may have seen it on Vancity Buzz). This quick quiz was created by our team to help guide you towards an area of tech you may be suited for. If your results listed you as a Google Geek, Community Evangelist, or Growth Hacker, then you may but cut out for a career in Digital Marketing (hurrah!).
Once you’ve taken our quiz, you’ll probably have a few questions. Yep, we have you covered, as next week we’re hosting a RED WINTER SAMPLER, which offers free courses in Digital Marketing, UX Design, and Web Development. Head here to secure your seat (just a warning, they’re almost full, so better to act sooner than later).
Colin is the CEO / Managing Director of RED Academy. He originally started his career as a classically trained musician and sound engineer, before switching to the tech industry where he has been working for the past 15 years. While he sounds British, don’t let that accent fool you; his roots are Dutch, and he calls Amsterdam his hometown.
Also the founder of Drive Digital, one of Western Canada’s biggest digital agencies, Colin is inspired by watching people create and seeing them find fulfillment in doing something they believe in. Colin is excited by the idea that the Internet connects us all, increasing transparency and accountability. He strongly believes that purpose is a bigger driver in people than profit, which will lead us to a better, fairer, more conscious world – values that dictate the foundation of RED.
