Vancouver Student Experience: Week 1 with Harry Hothi
As we come to the end of week 1 of the professional program at RED Academy in Vancouver, Harry Hothi discusses his student experience so far at RED Academy in the Digital Marketing Professional program.
I am happy to now be in Vancouver attending RED for the full time Digital Marketing program, I have been in search of a program like this for a while. I am originally from Edmonton but made the move recently to Vancouver to be a part of the program here at RED. I completed my Bachelors of Commerce degree at the University of Alberta and had been working in a sales role for the last few months. With my job in sales, I was not fulfilled with what I was doing and wanted to incorporate more of my marketing background into my career.
Why study a digital marketing course?
With the transition of marketing being focused online for most organizations I really wanted to learn the technical skills and gain experience. Although, I had some knowledge and tangible skills working with student groups, most of what I learned in school was theory based. I see the marketing industry focused on the digital/online aspect of marketing and I want to be a part of that.
Why study at RED Academy?
I was first introduced to RED by a few friends, I saw one of my friend’s LinkedIn account stating they were attending RED for the Digital Marketing program last cohort but didn’t initially think too much of it since I was in Edmonton. My friend Kurtis told me he was headed to Vancouver this April to take a Web Development program at RED and that I should look into the other programs they offered. After my research I knew that RED’s Digital Marketing program would be a good fit for me and was exactly what I had been looking for.
How was your first week?
My experience at RED so far has been amazing, I love the school’s atmosphere, the staff is super welcoming, and the overall vibe. The instructors and staff genuinely want you to succeed and are interested in getting the students to where they want to be. RED has a family focused environment and has great support system for the students.
What are you most excited about?
I am most excited to learn about Google Analytics and E-commerce, I hope to get into the fashion, sports, or tech industry once I complete the program. My end goal will be to find a full time job and eventually freelance on the side to build my portfolio. This course will give me a variety of new skills to help me find my dream job, while making some amazing friends along the way.
