RED Web Developer Alumni: Meet Blaze Kroeger

As part of our RED Academy Alumni series, we are featuring Blaze Kroeger, who recently graduated from our Web Development program.

What were you doing before RED?

I was working at the movie theater part time as a server in the VIP lounge.

How did you hear about RED?

My brother sent me a Vancity Buzz article about how web development is the most in demand career and that RED was providing a 12 week program to learn real life job skills.

What interested you about the program?

I have always had an interest in coding and programming, I had taken a coding online course briefly. My brother who is a Sr. Software Developer told me the job market was good and it would be something I would enjoy. After seeing the school, meeting the instructors, and being in the environment, it was a no brainer for me. It was nice to have instructors who are actually in the industry. RED offers a 6 month job placement guarantee for Web Development students, with that I was ready to start right away!

Where are you working now?

I am a Jr. Programmer and QA Tester at TBA Digital.

How has this program helped you in your job?

Coming into the program I had basic knowledge of HTML and no CSS. I ended up learning everything that was needed for a job as a front end developer. I am now able to use JavaScript, GITHub, and do front end framework.

How was your experience at RED?

Incredible, best decision I made in my life. The instructors were awesome and the students were great. I learned a lot in the 12 weeks at RED, if you were to tell me I would have a job in the tech industry 5 months ago I would have called you crazy.
