RED Digital Marketing Alumni: Natasha Lee
What were you doing before RED?
I recently graduated in May 2015 from UBC with a major in Microbiology & Immunology and a minor in Commerce.
What interested you in the Digital Marketing program?
I was intrigued by Google Analytics, the data side is a fundamental component of most business decisions, I wanted to learn the basis of where the data gathering started from and how to track conversions. Seeing the different strategies that can be implemented when a hurdle arises was a key point as well.
Where are you working now?
I am a Community Manager at Little Mountain Academy, I actually met Ryan who is the owner of the company in the digital marketing program. We ended up working together on the community project, he told me how he was looking to grow his marketing team, and at the end of the 10 weeks he decided to hire me. It started out as an internship but has evolved in to a greater marketing role.
What does your day-today look like?
I am currently focusing on email campaigns, project management, and managing the social media accounts and blog.
How has RED helped you in your job?
It has helped me understand what strategies to implement and what best practices to use. It was nice to apply everything I learned right away in my community project, it helped me build a solid foundation to perform well in my job.
What did you love about RED?
The dynamic classes, RED is not a standard teaching or learning environment. It was a great experience to have open discussions, be around such open minded individuals where I felt safe and was comfortable to speak my mind.
What made you take UX program?
I felt that with the Digital Marketing program it made a lot of sense to dive into UX Design too, I want to have an in depth understanding of how the customer thinks and how to market to them.
With over 10 years full-circle marketing experience, working across multiple b2c and b2b campaigns, Holly brings her passion for digital marketing to the Red Academy.
Originally from the UK, Holly has worked in a wide varied of industries. From consumer campaigns like the world’s largest dog show Crufts, BBC Kids and live entertainment, right through to food and drink trade events, global telecommunications conferences and a worldwide shipping broker – proving that digital marketing can be applied successfully to any company, in any market.
Holly cycled the pacific coast from Vancouver to Tijuana blogging all the way and in London, was a singer in a band. You will still catch her cycling around the city and maybe even singing…
