RED Alumni: Simply Winning
RED alumni Shyronn Smardon proved that design doesn’t have to be complicated in his capstone project for RED’s Web Developer Foundation course this summer.
Using his final website project as part of his application, he and his partner recently won the James Lee Foundation Scholarship, which is awarded to an up-and-coming creative talent wanting to enter the advertising industry. His website is an elegant and persuasive showcase using simple CSS, HTML, and responsive design techniques learned over the course of our 10 week program.
Besides being the first person from Vancouver to win the prestigious award, what’s even more amazing is that just a few short months ago, Shyronn had no prior coding experience. With a basic knowledge of design, our instructors were able to equip him with the skills needed to only excel, but win awards straight after graduating.
To top it off, Shyronn was recognized for his achievement at the Lotus Awards ceremony on November 5th where the best and brightest of B.C.’s advertising, design, interactive, social media and PR industries are honoured. How awesome is that?!
