5 Favourite things about Toronto

RED Academy is coming to Toronto this May!

Vancouver’s leading tech school will be launching in Toronto with classes set to start May 9th. Courses being introduced include: UX Design, Digital Marketing, and Web Development. We wanted to share our love for Toronto and some of our favourite things!

1. Drake aka Aubrey Graham aka Champagnepapi

Drake is a Canadian rapper, singer, songwriter, record producer and actor, born and raised in Toronto, Ontario. He is better recognized in his early days as Jimmy Brooks on Degrassi: The Next Generation. He is now a rapper in full force reppin’ the six. He reps Toronto every chance he gets from his lyrics, to his next album titled Views from the Six, and is the global ambassador for the Toronto Raptors. Drake is not only a Toronto favourite but a RED Academy favourite.

2. Blue Jays

Blue Jays Toronto

Not only is the Toronto Blue Jays Canada’s only MLB team, they made it to the playoffs last year, and have red jerseys. We can’t wait for the season to begin April 3rd.

3. Queen Street

Queen Street is an extremely popular area situated west of Yonge Street in downtown Toronto. Queen Street has rave reviews from locals and tourists, it is a street not to be missed! It is known as the best street in Toronto, there are a ton of shops, cafes, restaurants, and bars that everyone can enjoy. This is a great place to go for a walk and has a vibrant street scene for blocks.
Fun fact: RED Academy Toronto is a 10 minute walk from Queen Street West.

4. CN Tower

CN Tower Toronto

The CN Tower is a communications and observation tower located in downtown Toronto. The CN Tower which opened in 1976 holds the record for the 3rd tallest building in the world and the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere. The public have access to oversee Toronto from the viewing deck and most recently can participate in the Edge Walk. The CN Tower is light up different colours for special occasions and even have fireworks shoot out of it.

5. Niagara Falls

We couldn’t forget about Niagara Falls on our favourite things in Toronto. Although it is not in Toronto, and is a 90-minute drive away, Niagara Falls is a iconic experience where you can watch the waterfall hurtle down. There are various viewing points, but the best seats in town are the falls boat tours.

Advisory: We intentionally excluded the Maple Leafs off the list because the Vancouver Canucks are still the best

Matt Parson

Joining RED Academy as the Director of Operations, Matt is fascinated by all things data-related. With five years of experience in the industry, Matt is excited about the exponential growth within tech, and can’t wait to see the advancements achieved within the next 3, 5 and 10 years.

Matt is inspired by challenging people’s preconceived notions that they can’t do something, as well as the pursuit of making education more accessible and personal through technology. With lofty ideals such as these, you might not be surprised to learn that Matt is a distant relative of Benjamin Franklin.
